About

Our Vision

Treasures by Maya is a Norway based jewelry brand. Our focus is to make jewelry which is all handmade by women, for women. Our goal is to support women to become more independent. In countries like India, where a larger part of our jewelry is produced, women are often dependent on men in their family, which can force them to live in unhealthy relationships. We support the independency of these women, helping them to make better decisions for themselves and their families.

Our priority is to use recycled metals and stones, in a healthy work environment for our workers.

Tresures by Mayas creative designer, is a norwegian doctor by profession, and her love for jewelry, the environment and humanitarian work, is reflected in all our designs. For every piece of jewelry bought by our customers, a little donation will be given to develop a needy hospital in rural areas for the cause «Save a mother to save a child» in poor contries.

We would love you to be a part of our family, not only by wearing beautiful unique jewelry pieces, but also as a part of a universal thought and helping hand, both serving the environment and humanitarian cause.

Maya- the symbol of women, all over the world

Maya, is a  name of Hebrew, Spanish, Greek origin meaning "water".

In addition to being the name of a Central American culture, Maya was the legendary Greek mother of Hermes by Zeus, and means "illusion" in Sanskrit and Eastern Pantheism. Maya is an alternate name of the hindu goddess Durga. It can also be spelled Maia, as in Scandianvian countries, as the Maoris in New Zealand, with the meaning, courage or bravery. To the Romans, Maia/Maya was the incarnation of the earth mother and goddess of spring, after whom they named the month of May.

In Nepali language, Maya means love, and in Southern Mexico it is used as a tribute to the Maya people.

Maya, has an exotic, almost mystical image, symbolizing love and courage. She can be found anywhere in the world, and as a part of every woman in one or the other way!
